Intro to Ruqaa (in English)

About the course
This introductory course is 24 hours of teaching spread over 4 months. The course is for those who already have a background in Arabic type design and would like to master the versatile Ruqaa style! Participants need to be familiar with the basics of Arabic type design and Glyphs. The course is taught in English.

What’s inlcuded?
As part of the 24 hours of teaching, the course will include a crash course titled Advanced Tech for Sloped Arabic that can also be booked separately.
Students will also be given access to use Toshi’s own scripts that greatly facilitate the kerning of sloped Arabic fonts. They can continue to use these scripts after the course is done, for non-commercial projects.
As part of the course fee, we will provide a license for Letter Ink Acolyte.

- Session 11 — Sept 4 Refinement and Q&A
- Session 12 — Sept 11 Final presentation
Capacity
The course is open to a maximum of 12 participants. This ensures that every student gets ample time for feedback.
How will it work?
The course will use the latest software in order to set up a virtual classroom and a resource centre for the course materials. Participants will need to join the weekly sessions via a Zoom link that would be provided. A stable internet connection is required, as well as the latest Glyphs software on a Mac.
Fees and registration
