Blado, Antonio

Antonio Blado (1490–1567) was active in Rome as a printer as early as 1516. His printing press was in the immediate vicinity of Campo de ‘Fiori , along Via Mercatoria, formerly the site of the print-shop of Italy’s first documented printers, Konrad Sweynheym and Arnold Pannartz.

According to some sources, in 1527 he came into possession of the types of of Ludovico degli Arrighi, the former papal scribe of the Apostolic Chancery turned printer. In 1549 he became the official printer to the Roman Curia.
