It has been a great year. My time at Reading has been an inspiration and I cant begin to tell you how saturated with type knowledge you can become. The fun part is seeing the development of everyone elses work - the iterations and complete overhall (in the case of Andrews Hyde is like version six, each one different from the last).

@wes. Its all about the AirTrap's getting more air into the counters so you can make the type miniscule.

Jeff, there is nothing wrong with majoring in graphic design! Back when I was an undergraduate, I majored in graphic design, too. The world's two typeface design MA programs are graduate programs that you enrol in after you've finished your first degree.

The specimen booklet from last year's class at Reading is available here: http://www.ultrasparky.org/work/other/14_faces.html

The booklet contains contact info for all of us if you're interested in any of the work we did, or are doing now.

Thanks for the links. I have been looking into joining the course at Reading for sometime now and this has spurred me on even more. Cheers again!

I do hope they post the work of former students.

I've been told that this will be the case, although it might not happen super quickly. We don't want to share the limelight straight away, do we ;-)

If you look at the design (all those numbers down the left-hand side), you can guess what is in the cards.

You can access a few of the specimens from past years via a Google search.

Hyde is awesome. I love that "y"—reminds me of Scala and of Slimbach's text faces—and the specimen book is a work of art in itself.
