I have to agree with Johnno - I love that 'Warnock Pro Semi Bold Display'. - I also like BrushScript MT - I wouldnt put the latter in my top 10 but definetely in my top 80.

Vivien
Thanks for the compliment. My favourite of the Warnock family, is this font:

Warnock Pro Semi Bold Display. Makes me go weak at the knees.

I was always a big fan of Georgia, especially the way numbers are designed. Just look at your comment's and post's date formatting - absolutely gorgeous!

I also like AvantGarde and Warnock.

I agree, Garamond is great. But, as with any top-whatever list, they are always served-up with a large helping of subjectivity. I plan to run some sort of ongoing poll for my own list of, say, top 20 best typefaces. I also hope to do this kind of thing for the best/favourite glyph in any typeface.

I'm also no great fan of Eurostile, and am a little surprised to see it in the list--much too square for my liking:

I can't believe Garamond wasn't on there! And no Caslon either! *gasp* What were they thinking??? Actually, there was quite an absence of serif fonts. I think for the most part I'm more partial to serifs than sans serif fonts. They are more elegant to me.

I really like Century Gothic (left that one out!), because it varies its stroke weights and it's not a blah sans serif like many can be. I'm not a big fan of Eurostile, which they included, but that's probably just me.

I'm actually quite shocked at many of the classic faces they left out! But maybe they didn't fit the aim of “bulletproof” fonts that can be "used effectively in almost every Corporate Design."
